Many virus try to disable any antivirus programs that you have so that you don't notice or delete them.
Check which programs are loading at startup. I suppose you are using Windows. Go to Run and type "msconfig". If you see anything strange, you may indeed have a virus. If you don't know how to tell which virus you might have, post the list of those programs here. Also say which version of Windows you are using.
