No this problem may not go away if you update your OS to 9.2.2 & your Java to MRJ 2.2.6 But it should reduce chances of any other problems having a later version of Java. In one of the links to another link Stief gives a solution by using a 3rd party utility. See

People should really be starting to think about upgrading to OSX b/c the Gnutella network works on Java & it is now so much more advanced than the OS 9 version of Java. Besides OSX has so many other advantages. No more crashing computers b/c OSX's management of RAM is superb. It identifies the ram that has corrupted porblems & closes it off from other apps & the system. So you simply reopen the app or Classic (OS9 run under OSX) without having to restart the computer. It's fantastic!
