Most likely b/c you haven't waited for LW to load all the incomplete & shared files & then settled down. LW actually works best with patience. After several years & most on dial up I think I can afford to say that. Particularly after experiencing what can happen if LW is mishandled. It's a little like a r*ndy horse. Just gotta wait for it to settle down a bit before doing anything.
I'm sure many people have shared the same experience at some point. Jumped into LW & wanted to play a desired set of songs before they had been properly loaded & accounted for. Wait until the shared no. listed on the bottom left of windows changes from eg: 1/200 to 200. That means all the shared files have been accounted for. Even wait another couple on mins for LW to settle. That's what I mean by patience. In many ways LW can look after itself

Some hints: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW.

Part B which is even better & last & least are
