Perhaps you deleted iTunes but I'm not so sure it's possible to delete the main program. I'd have imagined it works from a rom (but I don't know.) Have you recharged the batteries lately? iPod does start to become a little stubborn function wise if the batteries are low. Are you using it for mac or windows?
