They represent the USA music industry & they are trying to kill people's enthusiasm for downlding the most popular new songs by loading up a large no. of computers with T3 type connections with corrupt files. In the link I gave, there's a way to detect if a file is corrupt even before you downld it. ie: check file size v's bit-rate of encoding.
Advice (if the above advice is too difficult for you), choose alternative downld sources for the most popular recent pop songs. eg: choose cable or dial up.
