You realise don't you that version 4.2 thru to 4.8.0 had security holes? ie: There was a remote chance someone could access other parts of your computer. That's why LW 4.8.1 was released to overcome this. Limewire Security issue (click on link)

I used to jump back to earlier versions, LW 4.0.4 to the later versions up to about 4.1.5 but then with the later versions after that, going back to 4.0.4 would mean my incomplete files wouldn't load & would start off at 0%. It seemed to corrupt the downld prefs.

If you do go back to another earlier version, make a backup of your download.dat & bak files found in your incomplete folder.
