thanks for the reply and the info
for the record I have 1gig ram in a dual 450mhz g4
nothing else is running on the computer
theres 30 gig of free drive space
-------------------------------
So much for going back to 4.4 - it has just quit/crashed in the same way that 4.6 and 4.8 did !!!
I have noticed that an hour after booting all files that arent downloading or queued will have the "need more sources"
so then I select 30 to 60 of them at a time and hit find more/resume
If I select all of them it just crashes after a few minutes
eventually they are filtre thru to awaiting sources if there are no hits
what I noticed with 4.4 today is that loads of files end up with queued status after I have select resume when they were in need more sources status
thats normal but what is strange and perhaps caused the crash is that none of the queued were doing anything or going anywhere, not even those what were in priority position 1,2, and 3?
Limewire was still downloading so I know it hadnt froze but it seemed that the queue was blocked and nothing was moving - perhaps a java memory problem
now Im wondering if I can reinstall java and if there is a safe way to uninstall first?
perhaps the mac heads are having problems with their os and the new os due soon and how it works with java that they havent upgraded to 1.5
anyone know why they are on old versions of java?
I assume that by bringing up that issue that you imply Limw on the mac would work better with java1.5 |
