Java 1.5 for windows has more improvements. How much is not drastic .. but depends on which type of app you're using I guess.
Keep in mind queued means your LW is busy. If I have a lot of incompletes (& I do), I open LW & let it sit for up to 30 mins or so before using. Also FYI, Resuming many files can have side-fx. It will cause your files to queue for much, much longer & uses much more computer resources. I personally only resume a few at a time but then, my bandwidth is probably much, much less than yours. eg:

Perhaps you should go back to 4.8.1 At least it will use less ram. But I've often had several versions of LW on my computer at same time so .. you could re-install it & see how it goes. And wait for LW 5 to come out lol

Can't launch LW: Bouncing in Dock (click on link) & get the standalone installer & make note of possible install issues at bottom of that page (may need to go to receipts folder if it says Java is already up to date.)
