Impossible. My speed is 256 kbps & the max speed I can get is 27 KB/s. Divide 8 into 256 kbps & subtract overhead loss & you end up with less than 30 KB/s. To verify this do a speed test: (a)
http://www.broadbandreports.com/stest or (b)
http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/speedtest/ Configuring Norton Internet Security & if you use Norton IS then disable Win XP firewall.
Port 6346 is the port LW listens & uplds & downlds thru. This can be changed under Tools>Options>Firewalls. Do you have it set to UPnP or manual port forwarding? Not all modems/routers that use NAT firewalls can use UPnP technology.
Some hints:
Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue!
Allow LW to settle for 10-20 mins before using.
Don't use the Resume button on all incomplete files. This will also stress LW & your comp. If you use Resume/Find sources then just apply it to a couple or so at one time.
A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW.
Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also
Part B which is even better & last & least are
search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities.
