Connection Problem Mac OSX Hello,
After reading all possible threads, I still don't understand how to sort out my connection problem. I am using Mac OS 10.1.5 and an IBook.
Here is the requested information needed for help (as Lord of the Ring asked):
1. not networked or sharing router
2. only apple firewall
3. 256 MB ram
4. 10.4 GB available
5. broadband
6. SpeedTouch 330 (WAN)
7. home
8. didn't find "about limewire" in the menu! I should have the latest basic programm though.
9. onetel
10. It's always been a problem. The green light stays on but the programm stops downloading. Then a window pops up saying: " your machine does not appear to have an active connection or a firewall is blocking Limwire from accessing the internet. Please check... etc." Although my modem appears connected, I can't access internet at all for other applications afterwards.
I have checked my limewire preferences: listening port is 6346, router configuration is using Upnp, no proxy.
In my system preferences, in network, I only found mention of a firewall in the proxy tab, showing a list I don't understand:
-FTP proxy (with option to use passive FTP mode)
-Web proxy (HTTP)
-Secure web proxy
-Streaming proxy (RTSP)
-Gopher proxy
-Socks Firewall
-option to bypass proxy settings for hosts and domains
All these are blank as I don't know what they are!
Can you please help? |
