Episkope,
(1) As Tiger is either bundled with newly bought Mac machines, either sold on DVD/Cds, any .dmg of Tiger you can download from the p2p are either fake or intermediate developper builts, the lattest one are not an official release and can lead to problem if installed on a non-developper machine.
(2) Tiger updates, available from the Apple Support Web page are updates and can only be installed on a previous -but installed- version of Tiger.
(3) There is no update allowing you to jump from Mac OSX 10.2 (Jaguar) or MacOSX 10.3 (Panther) up to MacOsx 10.4 (Tiger): to install Tiger on your "not newly bought" machine, you'll have to buy the Tiger retail DVDs
(4) If you try to install Tiger from a DVD/CD bundle wiht a new machine, note that this DVD/CD installation procedure is dedicated to the same king of machine. For instance, if you the Tiger DVD bundled with a PowerBook, you will not able to use this DVD to install Tiger on an iMac
So, now the question is: on which machine do you try to install which Tiger ?
