Yipper Doo is flying high
Default Download goes to 6 hosts then drops to 1 or 2 and stays

Within 30 seconds of initiating a download of 400 MB file, LimeWire will connect to 6 or 7 hosts and reach a combined transfer rate around 50 KB/s. (Slow servers.) Soon after that it will slow way down to about 5 KB/s and start dropping hosts until it's down to 1 host or sometimes no hosts. It takes several minutes for it to connect to more hosts, but never goes above 3 hosts. In the upper list box, it shows that the the file has over 200 available hosts. My search quality is set to "only four star results".

I understand that the hosts that I am connected to might disconnect. But, if I kill the download and re-initate it, it wii quickly connect to 6 hosts. My complaint is this: When it drops from 6 hosts down to 2, why won't LW automatically connect to more hosts so that it gets back to 6 or more? I know the hosts are out there, because I can connect to them in 30 seconds by killing the download and restarting it.

I am running LimeWire Pro 4.8.1 on a Windows machine, 2 GHz, 2 GB RAM, DSL connection. My maximum download rate is 150KB/s. I followed your recommentaions in the Sticky Forum Thread. My unused bandwidth is available, because I can download an MP3 file at 100KB/s while the 400MB file is still crawling.

Does LimeWire have an option that tells it to keep the number hosts as high as possible? Is there a menu item that I can click that will kick it in the pants to connect to more hosts without first killing it?
