dialogs Actually all of the dialogs in the beta need work. The file navigator is slow and wonky and it always reverts to My Documents, instead of remembering the last place you navigated it to. Given that you normally want to download to C:\Program Files\Limewire\Shared rather than My Documents, this is especially annoying.
The overwrite prompt is another one. When trying to get a lot of files, you get a lot of overwrite prompts for the ones you already have. (Or you could trust the green check icon to always mean you have the file -- I don't, because it isn't always accurate and it hasn't been since the first version to sport those icons.) Problem being the Cancel button keeps jumping around, instead of appearing in a consistent place on the screen. It mainly jumps up and down with each dialog, but sometimes it jumps horizontally -- and this can mean your next click lands on the Save As button or even the deadly Overwrite button!
The dialogs need a LOT more attention paid to usability. They need to remember previous save locations, locate their lower right corners and thus their buttons in a consistent place, and so on.
And someone needs to fix that green check icon. Those icons are presently utterly worthless for determining whether you already have a file or not. If I select a bunch of files and hit Download, half of them stay showing stars, and all of those actually have downloaded while the ones showing folders have not. They should show green checks. Every search contains at least one file with a green check that doesn't produce an overwrite prompt or the new "you already have a file with the same content" dialog. I'd end up never getting that file if I trusted the icons, but not trusting the icons means putting up with the severely usability-impaired overwrite dialog... |
