RTFM (clickety click) & if you learn how to keep your iPod & accessories in good shape then you should have no problems. Any store you buy from will obviously look for any alternative reason why so lose their responsibility which is why they both asked you & convinced you. My iPod has done fine in 6 mths & the other half's has gone well in 10 mths or so. np
