Basically for mac osx go to LW's prefs>Chat & tick the option box & apply button. It's well worth showing those who have chat enabled by Control-clicking the top of the columns (where the column headings are) which will bring up a menu that allows you to choose to show more options. One is chat. You can do this for the Search results window, the downld window & the monitor window/uploads.
