You're using dial up right? Well dial up has a maximum of 56 kbps.
Remember that ISP providers quote bandwidth in bps. LW shows speeds in KB/s
bps = bits per second
B/s = bytes per second
8 bits = 1 byte
So divide your 35 kbps by 8 & you get 4.5 KB/s or less. Not to mention dial up users share their bandwith for downld & uplds, unlike broadband & cable. I presume your 35 kbps was via a speed test. So that shows you lose 21 kbps via overhead. All internet connections have some type of overhead. And that's an awful lot for dial up. I used to get 5-7 KB/s for dial up. |
