1a. i dont believe there is anything wrong with it. but their definitions never catch anything. even if i were to purposely download and run a virus that i KNOW is very obvious when every other scanner detects it. such as subseven and netbus.

1b. their security response is often very slow and sometimes takes week before it comes out. such as product security fixes and definition updates.

2. it costs money for this over-bloated software.

3. a subscription is required to download new def files.

4. updates are a bitch.

5. i know of atleast 3 running BG processes it uses and takes of more ram than it should required (hence the bloating)

6. norton only survives because it is installed by default on proprietary machines. and therefore everyone knows this name and goes with it because they dont know any better. (hence why kazaa is still alive.)

7. crashes occurs frequently if you run large programs that require heavy disk access.

8. i have never had any of these problems with AVG. and i only recommend avast because et_voila seems to think its a good product. he puts avg before avast. making avast on his list #1. but i still like my avg

..

i wouldnt be suprized if norton was owned by m$ (IIRC, M$ owns mcafee *sp)
