many users fail to see the relationship of speed on a client to server (Internet) and peer to peer.
the internet is faster because you made a request to a server who has sufficient bandwidth to send you a file. i wouldn't imagine many web servers are hosted on a dsl/cable connection.
peer to peer is slow because the people that are sending you files are on cable/dsl, which has significantly slow upload speeds. those users could be downloading off the internet, which would affect their upload speeds. |
