Default Explanations

I must admit, you have made your query more difficult than it should be, if you had explained that you had hidden some files on your PC but wanted to share them with LW then you would have got the answer/suggestion that may have helped.

In the distant past I had to make some files invisible to the casual PC users, the way I did this was by putting all my files into a designated directory/folder then setting the folder's attributes to "Hidden" (see attached diagram).

Once a directory is "hidden" it will not appear in windows explorer and you cannot use the "Search" facility to find it so you must make a note of it's name and path. Also, no program can see or use the contents of your directory/folder once it is "hidden".

Now here is the tricky part, the only way to I know of to "unhide" the directory/folder is to open a DOS window and remove the "hidden" attribute, e.g. C:\> Attrib {Directory name} -H

in my diagram's example: C:\> Attrib CD Burning -H

The idea being, when you want to hide your directory/folder you switch the hidden attribute on and when you want to use your directory/folder you switch the hidden attribute off.

Hope this helps.
