i fixed it, not sure how, but i downloaded java 1.4.5.0 or something along the lines of, it was suggested in another thread

and then i redownloaded limewire also found in another thread, restarted the computer, and it worked, and i rebooted my computer after it worked to make sure it wasn't a fluke
