HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

I have downloaded movies in all formats avi windows media etc i have sonic and nero and was advise to download win avi to convert te file format so i could burn it to dvd, but this programme keeps crashing before it does anything.

Can anyone tell me of any easy way how to burn files to dvd format PLEASE! as my tv dvd player is very tempermental hence why it needs to be dvd
