I might have found a cause for the slow downloads! A person on a broadband forum posted this:
WinXP SP2 introduced a TCP/IP connection limit of 10 half-open connections, which results in the <<EventID 4226: TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts>> error message in your System Log. I haven't found a workaround for that, but to be honest - it sounds like this may be the issue you're having -- it's not related to the modem or bband itself, but good ol' MS WinXP.
Maybe this is why when you try to download a lot of files at one time, they get throttled back?
I tried 9 files at one time, and they all went full speed.
And I do download every patch Microsoft comes out with.
Any way around this? |
