I use dvdshrink 3.2. excellent program, along with nero.
also had problems previously by using the wrong disc. Sometimes it would record but not play on dvd player. I now use DVD-R. that works ok.
Could be a problem with your dvd writer. I had a dell and had to change it. Got one off ebay.
