--Setting up a new admin user account and installing there is a way to check iif the problem is in the home account, or with the system
--with the latest java update for Tiger, you can tell the system whether to use java 1.4 or 1.5

I've been using 1.5, and I'm not getting the gui slowdowns any more. Check your "about LimeWire" box to see which version of java you are using
