To find out your IP go to start-run type cmd and press enter
the type ipconfig and your ipadress will show
It increses your speed to a maximum Its like.
Lets say you wanted to send radiowaves through a wall of steel and its working a bit but the tv on the other side is still very blurry, port forwarding would be like making a hole in the wall (a port) so that the tv can get a clear image.
