Before this thread degenerates into emotional acrimony I would just like to make a few points.
Pornography in most western countries is not illegal, there are issues that might make it illegal such as "age of consent", actual consent", "consenting adults", etc. So, basically if a group of adults get together and decide to make a porno film, sell and/or give away copies to other like-minded adults then that is perfectly legal.
Filmed child abuse cannot be legal because there can be no consent, each country has it's own laws saying when a person can give sexual consent so any filming of a young person/child below a certain age is illegal.
To Matt's point, when a bunch of minors decided to make porno films the FBI quite rightly put a stop to it because these boys, and I presume girls as well, were below the age of consent and so could not legally agree to take part in such films.
Finally, there will always be people, parasites, criminals, etc. that will take advantage of the freedoms the rest of us enjoy. What worries me is that some of us, the more naive among us, may over react and ask the authorities to step in a regulate things. But instead of going after miscreants the authorities are more than likely to keep a watchful eye on us,
all in the name of security of course
