One reason for eDonkeys not to go opensource/GPL is to protect it against freeloaders. Why do you think is FastTrack/eDonkey that fast? Gnutella should learn from them.
When the first modern Gnutella client after Xolox will come (Limewire, Phex, Peeranha?) and offers multihosted downloads without anti-freeloading (e.g. minimum upload or swarming), then Gnutella will be dead! Please learn from FastTrack/eDonkey/Xolox and improve the only open source P2P (beside Freenet)!
