Which raises a more important question: Why design a Furbie that necessitates opening and soldering it. Apple was on the right track by trying to design a computer that you don't have to think about (granted, they failed miserably). I don't give a crap what's happening behind the scenes. I've got much more important things to worry about than terminals and UNIX.
