I dragged my whole limewire preferences folder to the trash, then updated my java w/o reopening limewire, and then restarted.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a change.
I still get a blank search window and all my buttons disappear when I enter a query.

Well, it at least helps the process of elimination.
