Well your problem doesn't seem to be what affected me then. It seems more like a system issue.
Make a note of all your LW settings, as if you try what I suggest, you'll need to reset them. ie: apple (command) key & comma.
Might I suggest, trashing LW. Then go to OSX HDD, open Library folder, open Receipts folder, find Limewire.pkg & trash;
Receipts folder sample image
Also delete LW's preferences found here /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire
Then redownload pro (I presume you have your personal downld page bookmarked, right.) Then reinstall LW. Don't let it start immediately after installing! Then reboot whilst holding down the SHIFT key until you see a window saying SAFE Booting. Then after startup, go to Utilities folder, open Disk Utility & Repair permissions. Then reboot normally. Then start LW.
If this doesn't fix it, then we'll need to look at other possible causes. Do you have a lot of shared files? Do you have a lot of incomplete files? If you have 1,000 or more incomplete files then it might be worth considering doing this
Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue!
