DVD resolution is around 720 pixels wide but uses rectangle pixels. Computer monitors use square pixels.

Most video players will allow you to increase the viewer size. So check the options on the player's menu bar. If you're going to burn to dvd, then some of the lesser resolution will be covered up by the TV's imaging techniques unless you're using a digital TV.

BTW if you have a dvd set top player that plays DivX/XviD/mp4 then you don't need to convert & burn as an mpeg2 video dvd. Just put it onto a data disk cd/dvd.
