Question Newsgroups v Limewire

Hi there

I read something, can't remember where, it said Newsgroups were "safer" than P2P sharing with programmes like Limewire.

That you don't get Viruses and can't get "caught" downloading copyprotected material.

How can that be ????

I thought Newsgroups were just stuff downloaded from a sharer who had uploaded to a server as opposed to straight from the sharer like P2P.

Why couldn't they have dodgy files with both ways ?

How can't you get caught ? The server you download from must capture your IP address and a record of your download.

Any info ?
