1.9c and crippled upload throttling 1.9c changes the slider for the amount of bandwidth available for uploads, so that it bottoms out at 50% of the amount of bandwidth Limewire thinks is available.
Unfortunately for me, my DSL connection is viciously asymmetric, like 10:1 -- so I have *much* less upload bandwidth than Limewire seems to think based on the fact that I identified as having "DSL." And if I use up too much of this upstream bandwidth for uploads, then downloads also slow to a crawl (ACKs cant get through etc.)
In the old limewire, I could throttle uploads to 2-5% or so of Limewire's ridiculous overestimate of my capacity, and everything worked fine. Now, since I can only go down to 50%, I have no choice but to turn uploads off completely.
This unless Limewire will actually measure my upload bandwidth now and improve its estimate? Either way I think the slider should be allowed to go below 50%. |
