can't reply to thread but:- info from a newbie for any other newbie .e although i hate to say it possibly older new time users who don't quite get the lingo... also obviously talk too much so have to post this message in a couple of sessions
thanks for your reply but i honestly had already read that page... however, good news...
1. i've succesfully donwloaded an avi version of the hillls have eyes (don't know what the film is about as it is for other half and looking at it could well be the 1977 version (says it is by Wes Craven)). Had trouble orignially but for anyone in the UK looked up help and support at my isp site and they don't like you doing peer to peer downloads at peak times i.e 6pm to 11pm (i.e download during the night)
2. have new laptop with no particular extra software, real player couldn't find the codecs so downloaded divx6 and this played the film. It also burnt the film onto a cd (file was avi and less than 700mb) but my dvd player (which is not new) did not play it, though i haven't had any problem playing copied dvd's etc.
3. have been looking for converters to convert from avi format in to something which i didn't know what and chose dvd format. chose ALsoft vidieo converter which I left for about 7 hours and it seemed to get nowhere very quickly and then chose cucusoft which converted in less than an hour. It plays on my dvd but becuase I haven't bought it it has a message for cucusoft straight across the screen.
All in all i'm quite hapyy at the moment and may go to sleep, wanted to say that spending the time waiting for replies made me look at the forum and gave me a lot of info for the next film download (if i dare!). seriously take a look at the link here and others it gives lots of info.
However, the question still remains, where can i get a converter without a 30 day free trial and without paying that doesn't print silly things on the screen. If someone can tell me the answer I'll be well away....if I find the answer before anyone else I'll let you know....As a bloodhound I know I'm on the right track. |
