Which OSX version are you using? Send us a pm. Click on my username to find a link to send it.

What program is trying to open it? Is it StuffIt expander? Stuffit is unable to open dmg files competently. Only use Disk Copy. Drag & drop the LW dmg file onto disk copy. You could also go to the disk copy prefs & disable verification or checksum verification.
