If you close the window clicking in the upper right corner of the LW window then usually LW reduces itself to the system tray and will still download. You can check this via LW>Tools>Options>System Tray. The "minimize to system tray" should have a dot. The system tray itself is where your computer clock is (in my case in the right bottom corner of my desktop screen). If you shut down your computer it won't download.
