If you're using tiger then see Setting up Java 1.5

Otherwise try a safe boot & repair permisions: SAFE Boot & Repair Permissions

Also try deleting the LW prefs folder whilst LW is closed found here: /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire
