Default LimeWire, Apache and of course Linux

If this issue has been addressed please forgive me as I was unable to find it.

I am running StartCom, based on RedHat. I have LimeWire installed and everything works great save for one issue.

I run Apache on my Linux box and save downloads from LimeWire into a folder served up by Apache. This way, via a browser, I have access from anywhere in the house, on the road or where have you. The issue I have is that since I port forwarded out port 80 to my Linux box and have exposed it to the world I have setup some security. I am using Auth and .htaccess files in Apache so a browser is prompted for a valid user name and password before being granted access.

The issue now is that LimeWire is not longer able to use the directory I would like due to security issues. I have no problem with adding LimeWire to my password file, however, I do not know if this can be done?

Does anyone know solution or a work around?
