When I convert or burn with Nero I don't run anything else. Unless you have a really fast PC with a lot of RAM Nero will be using all resources. If you bring up TaskManager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) you'll probably see your CPU running at 100% when using it.

You can set priority in Nero to low but it really effects the speed
