Depending upon what you're after (if you're after porn then this advice won't help), you can filter out porn results 2 ways. 1. Use your Keyword filter; Direct instructions to eliminate porn from results, & 2. Tick the Ignore Adult Content option on the same filter location.

But yes, I agree there is some discrepancy between how you use the search functions.
