If you decide to try installing LW again, try it this way.

Uninstall your current version of Java, then reinstall JRE using the offline installer here

After Java's installed, install LW using it's offline installer
http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

For some reason (don't ask me why!), the LW online installer seems to cause problems for a lot of people. Likewise the online Java installer
