Right click on the column header > more options. Now untick 'extended tooltips'... no more info boxes

Personally, I find the info useful. It can come in handy for spotting fake files, too. Someone recently found that some fake mp3s (even though file name, size & bitrate all looked ok) show only "track 1" in the info box!
