Thanks LOTR anyway for your help, I appreciate very much the effort you put into trying to find an answer to this problem for me - I've checked with other sources and no one anywhere is able to help beyond reinstalling, so I bought a second HDD yesterday and will line that up as my weekend project... Oh well...

I used to be a Macman back in the Classic days, pre Win 95, and then got cheap and went Intel. Now everything's changed in both camps around ease of use, software compatibility, etc., but one thing remains the same:

Windows sucks!!
