Limewire getting sued An attempt to shut down Limewire is unfolding in the courts over copyrights. Seems the Record labels, who for the most part are own by the companies that manufacture the equipment that allow you to share, want to shut Limewire down. For example; Sony Corp. Their Greed amazes me. They sell you the equipment to share then don't wan't you to do it. At first they were sueing people like you and me to stop it. When that got them nowhere, they decided to go after sites like Limewire. So my first question is; If they didn't want you to do it in the first place, why make; then sell the mean to do it?
One would think that there is a good case for consumer fraud in this. Why would Sony or any other manufacture for that matter sell you a piece of equipment to copy CD's if they didn't want you to copy CD's. Is it any different with computer? Isn't one of their advertising pushes to buy certain computers about how easy it is to share files over the internet?
So my next question is one of common sense. Shouldn't the record labels be sueing the companies who make the equipment that allows p2p sharing? Of course, sueing yourself doesn't make much sense does it. But this isn't about making sense or protecting copyrights. It's all about GREED. |
