MemorySticks are USB & are very slow!!! LW will suffer that's why it's hanging. Use the MemoryStick only for copying files, not for keeping on the computer for an extended period for saving files to or sharing from. I suspect if you take the MemoryStick out of the equation things will quickly improve. My G4 & LW has enough problems with an external firewire drive let alone a usb device. I only share from the FW occasionally for that reason. I think it's related to the architecture of my G4. I know of pc users who share from multiple FW drives all day without problems.
