I connect directly to my modem, and there is no firewall built in..RoadRunner...XP MCE...

try this..first disable automatic internet configuration of programs in NPF..then manually go in and delete all references to LW and Java..(while LW is off of course)...then start up LW and say yes and always to the questions NPF will ask...
