I have been using LimeWire v4.0.? Pro for years with no problems. Tonight I decided to upgrade to the latest Pro version (4.12.6) and now I am getting the (what I now know to be famous) "Limewire was unable to initialize and start......firewall.......etc. ) I have literally been reading on this site and other sites from internet searches for about five hours as I didn't want to post here fullly realizing that those of you in the know likely see this all the time....but, alas, I have reached my wits end.
I did everything suggested in the threads/posts/sites that I read and still get the same thing.

10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here:

It says: "Your test worked"
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
no, simple, single PC with no other p2p software
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.

13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?
Can't get there
Additional info that may help:
I turned off my windows firewall, disabled windows defender and disabled real time protection on my norton all at the same time and still same error message. I phoned my ISP's technical assistance line to ensure that there are no issues with Limewire being blocked and confirmed that my cable modem (which I purchased through them) did not have an internal firewall.
This is driving me nuts. I have literaly been working on this for over 5 hours. Luckily I shave my head or I'd of pulled out all my hair by now! Any help most appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
