So, I've got a 'legal' conflict question. All right, I recently (as in about an hour ago) downloaded Limewire after experiencing some problems with Shareaza and it not wanting to connect. So, finally my conscience has gotten the best of me with this whole peer-to-peer file sharing idea.
My question, quick and simple, is it legal? I live in Canada, and I've heard that it's legal to download files in peer-to-peer networks, just aslong as you're not sharing the files. This sounds like a hunk of junk lie that someone made up though, because it defeats the purpose of record companies wanting to shut down p2p sharing.
Also, if I were to upgrade to Limewire PRO, and pay money for the program, would that make it legal? I'm a tad clueless.
Thanks for any and all help!
