Default An unusual problem. (ramble)

I have been using LimeWire for a few years, and I have NEVER had this problem.

Just recently, I installed an external hard-drive, and just to be safe, I moved my LimeWire program folder and all the songs I have downloaded (1700+ which I'm sharing from both LimeWire and another folder that doesn't have songs from LimeWire) onto the drive. I did this about a week ago. Anyway, I've since downloaded songs, and I've set the program up so all the songs will be saved to the folder on the E:drive. That went well, then tonight I opened up the folder and it said "File or folder corrupted. Cannot be read" and it had some other technical stuff, so I opened LimeWire, Shared Folder and there was nothing, so I tried the Saved Folder. It said I can't access it. I have no viruses or worms on the PC......What does all this mean and why did it happen? I thought I had lost all my songs, and I was starting to panic. It took a long time to download these songs. I rebooted, and at startup, it ran a disk-check and got rid of the corrupted files and put back all the songs. They're now back in the folder, but I'm lost as to why it happened in the first place. It was an almost scary experience, because I've never ever had a problem with LimeWire.
Can anyone tell me what causes this to happen? And has it happened to anyone else?

Thanks.
