Did you try to add songs from the shared 'limewire tunes' within iTunes? That's just a playlist, so you won't be able to add to the iTunes library from there.

Go to LW's library, click on Saved Files then click Explore. Your saved folder will open...add from there to the iTunes library. For more info, check out the sticky here
